Dive the Texas Clipper and Deep Six
About an hour off the coast of South Padre Island lies the Texas Clipper. At 473 foot long, the ship started out as a WWII attack transport (USS Queens). After various other roles, the ship was finally transferred to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Artificial Reef Program to be turned into an artificial reef. Sunk in 2007 as an artificial reef, it's keel rests on the bottom at 132 foot. Most of the ship begins to be accessible around 70 foot down to over 110 feet.
We may also be able to visit Deep 6 which is a sunken shrimp boat that went down in rough seas and lies in 65 feet of water.
A good selection of sea life can be found around these wrecks. There is limited availability for this trip and you need to sign up quickly. Pricing for the trip is $699 and includes a dolphin watch, fireworks on Friday evening, dives on the Texas Clipper and Deep Six, as well as two nights hotel accommodations.
