Bonne Terre Mine
It's finally happening! We've talked about this trip for years and we finally have it on the calendar. We're very excited! Bonne Terre Mine is an abandoned lead mine in Missouri and stretches 10 miles below the town of Bonne Terre. This mine is so large that, they offer a boat tour through the mine.
Check out the two YouTube video links below to see why so many people are excited to scuba dive the Bonne Terre Mine.
Though we will be diving underground in the mine, where we will be diving, there should not be an "overhead" environment and will not require a cave diver certification. You can see, and ascend to the surface at any time. Speaking of dive certifications, we are including the very special Mine Diver certification for our attendees. Currently, this is the only location where you can earn your Mine Diver Certification.
The water is crystal clear and 58 degrees. So, neoprene accordingly. Though the Mine has a substantial fixed underwater lighting system in place, consider bringing your own lights to augment the existing lighting.
We will be diving Saturday and Sunday over the Labor Day weekend for a total of six dives.
We're still working out the fees. We will open up the signup when we have that information.
